About the job:

​

Our client is a very successful manufacturing company. Due to an employee retirement, they are recruiting for a Transport Manager, who will maintain their excellent record on legal compliance, health and safety and performance. 

​

Key Accountabilities

  • Schedule and plan routes for multi-drop deliveries through the planning team

  • Support the customer service team with proactive information and problem-resolution for all customer deliveries and queries

  • Lead and motivate the transport team on the day-to-day activities

  • Comply with all legislation, including our Operators Licence, FORS and the working time directive

  • Monitor and manage training and qualifications for all members of the Transport Department and agency drivers, and file and review required certification and accreditation

  • Manage third party carriers

  • Liaise with the Production Manager to schedule collections and deliveries in conjunction with the production plan

  • Accidents and incidents

  • Transport KPIS

    • On Time Delivery​

    • Cost: actual v budget

    • Agency v Own order fulfilment

    • Cost per mile and total miles

    • Vehicle fill and utilisation​

    • Vehicle and driver checks: compliance to schedule and performance

​

Competencies

  • 5 years transport management experience

  • Valid CPC holder

  • Execute, direct and co-ordinate all transport activity in a safe, legally-compliant, effective, customer-focused manner

  • Team player with problem-solving mentality. Works with customer service, finance and production teams for ultimate customer satisfaction 

  • Customer focus: always see performance from the customer perspective

  • Results-oriented: always seek improvement to budget

  • Develops team: Delegation to transport supervisors, planners. Coaches and performance manages through the team

​

Location

  • At the client manufacturing premises in Tonbridge

  • Monday to Friday, half-day Saturday every fortnight

  • 40 hours per week

​

Package

  • £40,000 per annum

  • 30 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
